Sound & Vision Show 2020, Athens

13.02.2020

The grand hall of Audio Vision Art Co. opens the doors with the exhibitors preference and main focus on famous Cabasse (since 1950) made in France speakers and gadgets. Mr. Nick Pachis of AV-Art as the man behind the sound & vision selection of AV-Art mated the highest end of Avantgarde amplification, specific the preamplifier model XD and power amplifier X-Power (made in Germany) as the main perfromer. As for digital streamer the choice here was the excellent value for money Cambridge Audio CXN V 2 (~1000,- euros) -currently in our e-magazine audition rooms- and will enter our reviews section soon. Speaker-wise, at the moment we took our first pictures and we auditioned the whole system performance with the Cabasse Murano 2-way stand mount speakers (~4,600,-€) as well as the floorstanders: Cabasses in this hall delivered a slightly laid-back holographic sound with a sweet and extended treble, room filling bass -a joy to hear from Murano, too- and a deep, tall and wide soundstage with excellent presence and body of images. The speakers selection for the show: Cabasse Iroise 3 (4500,-€) and Murano Alto (8000,-€) models completed the sonic picture of bigger floorstanding models, also the Jersey MC170 with homocentric drivers (1000-1300,-€) and the Minorca –the white two-way bookshelf one- (950,-€) at the center.

The Cambridge audio CXN (V2) further refines the seamless digital music experience that made the original a What Hi-Fi? award winner, three years running. A faster processor opens up new possibilities, giving you a richer internet radio experience, a greater level of playback control and Chromecast built-in.“. Built-in digital to analog and processors made Web-Hi-res radio, Tidal & Spotify perform fantastic. Streaming music came to our ears with greater dynamics, even blacker backgrounds compared to older Cambridge DACs & PC combos of our office and more of three-dimensionality. A joy at ~900 euros category.

High Definition Active wireless speakers and a sub from our beloved Cabasse.

The Swell from Cabasse, another huge success with an unbelievable price tag, only 100 euros (!), is a small Bluetooth amplification-speaker combo probably unsurpassed by the antagonism. You can connect your smartphone or tablet in Bluetooth with NFC technology, explore your playlists, listen to your favorite web radio or directly plug in your devices to Swell. Stereo Mode: You can pair up to 2 Swell units for 120W of power in stereo or Party Mode. Also you can take advantage of the unlimited possibilities for listening to your favorite tunes everywhere without too much compromise!

The Cabasse Sound Bar (and an added subwoofer). “The high efficiency of the drivers developed for the slim BAR provides fidelity and power in theater sound reproduction together with very low average power consumption. Our team of acoustic and electronic engineers designed a sound.“. Cabasse streambar also debuted the HES2020, a chic and delicate sounding wireless soundbar with a wireless subwoofer (~1200,-€) as a set.

Avantgarde acoustics amplifier and preamplifier made in Germany. Avantgarde is famous mainly for the large and tube friendly horn-type speakers.

Music hall 1.3 mmf turntable is setting the bar too high, at the price of 300 euros, with pre-installed cartridge and also the bigger 2.3 mmf model (with Audio Technica cartridges). Years gone by since 1998 and Music Hall turntables continues to offer a splendid list of models up to 4500 euros.

Ricable AC Schuko audiophile plugs (under 30 euros each) and various cable solutions and sockets. Made In Italy.

The Pearl by Cabasse also impressed us, a classic sphere shaped speaker, amplification, wireless, streamer etc. all-in-one (3000,-€) and soon (not in display) the Aqua, a scaled down, half-price model.

Also the smaller and budget-friendly two-way bookshelf speakers from Cabasse, under 800 euros !
